Theresa German - Prints — The Hope Anthology

TO KEEP · ANTHOLOGY ARTIST

Daisy German
Illustrator, Symbolic Animals

I start with the meaning. Before I draw an animal, I spend time looking into the symbolism, stories and qualities that have become attached to it — strength, patience, resourcefulness, belonging, whatever I find there. That research shapes the way I draw, exaggerate and simplify each character, using a bold, Nordic-inspired lino print style. I work from Birmingham, making animals that hopefully feel familiar at first glance, but carry a little more underneath.
